Privacy notice

Last updated 22 October 2026

JDM History (“we”) runs jdmhistory.co.uk. This notice explains what personal data we collect, why, and your rights under UK GDPR. Contact us at [email protected].

What we collect

  • Vehicle checks: the registration, chassis number and any advert text you enter, and the results of the check. A registration on its own is not usually personal data, but we treat it with care.
  • Waitlist: your email address, whether you’re a buyer, owner, dealer or importer, and optionally the registration you’re interested in.
  • Usage: which pages and buttons are used (for example the “Get the full report” button), without cookies or advertising trackers. Your IP address is used briefly to stop abuse and is not stored with these events.

Why we use it

  • To run the check you asked for and show you the result (legitimate interests and performing the service).
  • To email you once when full reports launch, if you joined the waitlist (consent, which you can withdraw at any time).
  • To improve our rules and find out whether people want a paid report (legitimate interests).

Where it comes from

Vehicle data comes from the DVLA and DVSA once our access is live, and in future from licensed data partners. Sample reports use made-up data.

Uploads

When document uploads open, crop out the keeper’s name and address from any V5C photo. We will keep only what the checks need and delete uploads on a schedule.

How long we keep it

Waitlist emails until launch plus 12 months, or until you ask us to delete them. Check results for up to 24 months.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or object to how we use it, by emailing us. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Where it’s stored

On our own server in the UK or EU. We don’t sell your data.
