Japanese recall check

Japan publishes every vehicle recall with the range of chassis numbers it covers. Enter a chassis (frame) number, such as RC5-1104200, and we’ll match it against the recalls filed since 2001.

Why check Japanese recalls?

A car imported from Japan was recalled under Japanese rules, not British ones. UK recall checks often can’t see those campaigns, and the UK arm of the maker may not know about them. If a recall wasn’t done before the car left Japan, it may never have been done.

Japan’s transport ministry (MLIT) publishes every recall, but with no search by chassis number. We read each filing and index its chassis ranges, so you can check a car in one step. Filings from 2001 to 2004, and recalls of fewer than 100 vehicles, list model types and dates rather than chassis numbers, so for those we can only say a car might be affected.
