In Toyota’s own catalogue
Toyota’s own listings name the colour (シルバーメタリック) but not the code, so they confirm the model offered it. These are the grades we checked:

Has a 1C0 car been resprayed?
- Find the model plate and read the code. On the manufacturer’s plate in the engine bay, usually on the bulkhead or a front strut top. It’s printed with the trim code as COLOR/TRIM (C/TR): in 040/FB20 the paint code is 040. If it says 1C0, the car left the factory in Silver Metallic.
- Check the V5C. For Silver Metallic it should say SILVER or GREY. Add the paint code to our free check and we’ll compare it with the DVLA record for you.
- Check the auction sheet. It should describe the car as silver and usually prints the code. A sheet that says one colour with a code for another means the car was painted before it was sold in Japan. Our auction sheet translator flags that.
- Look for the old colour where a respray rarely reaches: the engine bay, door shuts, inside the boot lid and fuel flap, and under rubber seals. Silver Metallic has a metallic finish, so look along each panel at an angle for a change in shade.

Questions
What colour is Toyota paint code 1C0?
1C0 is Silver Metallic (シルバーメタリック), a metallic silver paint.
What colour should the V5C say for a car in 1C0?
The DVLA records a basic colour, not the paint name, so a car still in its factory Silver Metallic should be registered as SILVER or GREY. Anything else suggests it has been painted a new colour, and the keeper should have told the DVLA.
Which models came in Silver Metallic?
Japanese catalogue colour listings include it for the Toyota MR2 SW20 (SW20), Toyota Soarer Z30 (JZZ30), Toyota Celsior UCF30 (UCF30) and Toyota Crown S180 (GRS180). We believe the Toyota Supra A80 (JZA80) also offered it, but haven’t confirmed that yet. Other Toyota models outside our model library used it too.
