Has a D06 car been resprayed?

  1. Find the model plate and read the code. On the caution plate in the engine bay, next to EXT (the exterior paint). Codes are a letter and two digits, such as W37. If it says D06, the car left the factory in Lightning Blue Mica.
  2. Check the V5C. For Lightning Blue Mica it should say BLUE. Add the paint code to our free check and we’ll compare it with the DVLA record for you.
  3. Check the auction sheet. It should describe the car as blue and usually prints the code. A sheet that says one colour with a code for another means the car was painted before it was sold in Japan. Our auction sheet translator flags that.
  4. Look for the old colour where a respray rarely reaches: the engine bay, door shuts, inside the boot lid and fuel flap, and under rubber seals. Lightning Blue Mica has a mica finish, so look along each panel at an angle for a change in shade.

Questions

What colour is Mitsubishi paint code D06?

D06 is Lightning Blue Mica (ライトニングブルーマイカ), a mica blue paint.

What colour should the V5C say for a car in D06?

The DVLA records a basic colour, not the paint name, so a car still in its factory Lightning Blue Mica should be registered as BLUE. Anything else suggests it has been painted a new colour, and the keeper should have told the DVLA.

Which models came in Lightning Blue Mica?

We believe the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X (CZ4A) also offered it, but haven’t confirmed that yet. Other Mitsubishi models outside our model library used it too.
