JDM chassis number decoder

Japanese-market cars carry a frame number, not a 17-character VIN: a model code, a hyphen and a serial, such as BNR32-012345. Enter one to see what it says.

That looks like a model code rather than a full chassis number, which adds a hyphen and a serial. Japan’s official lists have it as Toyota Harrier AVU65W.

The decoder reads the code only. To check the car’s records, run a free check with its registration, or a Japanese recall check on the chassis number alone.

Chassis codes in our library

Each links to a model guide with build years, engines, known problems and auction sheet notes. For any other Japanese model code from 2004 on, see specs by model code.
